Elephant in the sand

50 Cent - Elephant in the Sand Review
Rating : 4 out of 5

Is it 2008 or 2003? Cause I haven't heard a G Unit mixtape like this in years. The chemistry is in tack, the fire's are lit ,and if you close your eyes and listen you'll get that grimy ghetto visual Curtis and his 3 amigo's paint so well.

This time around the Unit is following up from the sucessful "Return Of The Body Snatchers" with "The Elephant In The Sand".If you live under a rock then that is the only excuse for you not hearing about the 4 year old beef thats back in its prime between 50 and Fat Joe.50 had a picture of Joey Cracks Joey Crack hanging out on the beach and titled the mixtape "The Elephant In The Sand"....and released the mixtape the same day as Joe's album. All this was for self promotion and an attempt to stop Fat Joe's sales. And after looking at soundscan this may have done the trick.

The mixtape kicks off with "Rat Joe Skit".This is bits and pieces of Fat Joe's alleged dry snitching from his several radio interviews a week before. It was like taking Joe's ammo at 50 and firing back.Joe has called 50 a snitch for years and now G Unit took Joe talking about everyone from Gucci Mane and Shyne and made a skit out of it.After that entertaining skit the adrenaline filled "Hollow Thru Him" kicks on.This is 50 and the gang in there prime.Even though Banks isn't the punchline king anymore you still have to respect his wordplay.Other Auto Tune inspired tracks "Rider PT 2" and "I Fucked Your Bitch" are a bit cliche but different in the same aspect.

Rider is an amped up gun busting massacre with a twist of T Pain."I Fucked Your Bitch" is hilarious and comical and showcases G Unit chemistry in its prime as they sing and spit side by side.Lloyd Banks destroys "Sunroof Open" like it was 2002 all over again.Almost every song has a hook as powerful as a Tyson blow thanks to Curtis himself.50 is a songwriter and even on a mixtape he demonstrates his song writing abilities.Prime examples are "Chase The Cat" and "I'm On It Like That".

Speaking of "I'm On It Like That" Tony Yayo just moved up a rank as one of top G Unit spitters. This may have put banks on the back burner when Yayo spit "The rap game is the grim reaper for ya/ Little niggas like The Game think they ultimate warrior/Fat Niggas like Joe think they Andre the Giant/I'll put my ruger in his face his fat ass u'll be quiet/....damn ..those are fighting words."Lifetime Achievement" gets an honorable mention. They Unit breaks the norm as they big themselves up in a comical different kind of way.

This is another classic G Unit mixtape. It's filled with the usual bravado, gunshots,Whoo Kid quotes, and of course Skits and Songs meant to diss a new target. This time the bullseye was painted on the Elephant himself.Even if you don't like 50 or G Unit you have to respect there consistency and grind. You have to respect the movement.Who else has there own networking site giving out free mixtapes for self promotion?Who else makes videos non stop to mixtape tracks? One group -ggg ggggg ggggggg U NI TTTTTT!!
