When you think Bad Boy records you think history. Diddy has brought us 112, Faith, Biggie, and Total. Other then all being on the same roster those artists also were in there prime in the 90's. Since 2000 Diddy has tried to sustain his label as a trophy prize, but unfortunately it has not worked. After a first Making The Band, which was a complete disaster , musically things looked grim. Attempt after attempt things weren't as sacred as they used to be. Then Danity Kane came along and brought back that platinum Bad Boy sound. Now, you have Day 26. With a group dynamic reminiscent of Boyz 2 Men, Jodeci, and New Edition, there is nothing "one hit wonder" about Day 26. Its now Mid Spring 2008 and the debut album from Day 26, tentively titled "Day 26" hit the stores.
The album kicks off with the thunderous "I'm The Reason". With a high strung bpm and a thump that will knock the speakers out of your trunk the group masters the first song in true R & B fashion. "Silly Love" is smooth and the "na,na,na,na's" from Day 26 will shoot goose bumps up your spine. The harmonies are Boyz 2 Men meets 2008 with a twist of Case. The identity Day 26 is establishing is innovation. There are NO CLICHE'S, NO COPYING, and NO FEATURES! If you are a fan of real mood music, soul music, and heart churning vocals then look no further , "Come In (my door)", is possibly the best arrangement of an R and B song for 2008. Day 26 sets the bar high with jewels like "Come In", "If It Wasn't For You", and "Aint Going".
The first single "Come With Me" should be on most top 40 stations but due to industry politics pure talent like this may not transend the shadow it's in.
This album is a savior from the non stop vocal tune and vocoders. This is like taking the gloves off and slugging it out on some grown man ishh. There is no point in reviewing the rest of the album ...reason why you ask?..............BECAUSE THE WHOLE F*****N CD IS HOT! It's almost hard to believe that Day 26 created a lane for themselves on there debut, but they did! This album is not for just R&B fans this is for fans of music. This is Rapcapital.com certified heat! PICK THIS ALBUM UP AND CAST YOUR VOTE!!!!!
